Since the photo was taken I have since finished the costume, the collar now on and the symbol painted.
To make the collar stand up like it's supposed to I put Solari inside, which is what you would use to make oven mitts. Yes, it's the stuff inside them so that you don't burn yourself.
I even went so far as to make custom sickles for Trickster Karkat. They're meant to look like half eaten and melting candy apples with the sticks in them. So there's bite marks, and the melting effects are done with spackle. The pink part, which is supposed to be like frosting, is also spackle.
The idea is that she's a sexy Ringmaster. Hence the style of the coat and the skeleton gloves. Because of how short the skirt is, and I'm showing legs, I'm wearing opaque tights in grey. And to feign underwear I'm simply going to wear my swimsuit bottom over top.
Since the photo was taken I've since made the tail and finished it. It's now sewn onto the skirt. The horns are tinfoil and spackle entirely just like Karkat's.
I can't wait to wear these to the convention this coming weekend. Meulin I'm going to have to do more body painting than I'm used to, but I guess I shall just have to deal with it.
I'll be taking Izayoi back to Montreal too, so this is going to be very interesting. I'll be entering the masquerade with her for sure this time with my friends. We pre-registered for the masquerade, we just need to check in the morning to be doubly sure.
As well, doing a photoshoot for my friend Nick on Saturday of Kurloz. I don't care, I'll strip off all the kimonos to do a shoot for him. He's awesome and I want him to have a great first private cosplay photoshoot. And who better to do it for him than a friend? It's better and easier when you know the photographer already.
